Life
Vincent van Gogh painted in bursts of color that felt almost unbearable — sunflowers, starry skies, wheat fields bending under wind. He sold only a handful of works in his lifetime and died at 37 in Auvers-sur-Oise, France. Today his canvases hang in the world's greatest museums, and his letters to his brother Theo remain among the most honest accounts of an artist's soul ever written.
